The release of EY855-II XC Cube followsAOpen's release of the world's first desktop motherboard based on Socket 479Intel Pentium M CPU, the i855GMEm-LFS in late November. The new 855 Pentium Mproduct fuses unmatched computing performance, ultra silence and low powerconsumption expected from high-end laptop with a sleek, classic desktop worthyof any user. The AOpen EY855-II XC Cube supports Pentium M processors up to 2.0GHz,with a 400-533MHz FSB and 2GB of DDR333 memory. The Pentium M processorconsumes only 40 watts, unlike its predecessor the Intel LGA775 Pentium 4which consumed roughly 160 watts. The new chip design generates less heat andneeds much less cooling, resulting in quieter operation -- a feature highlyadvantageous to SFF PCs. The EY855-II XC Cube is equipped with a high-quality ultra silent CPUcooler which eliminates annoying cooler noise. The average speed of theequipped cooler is roughly 2000rpm, emitting a mere 22~24 dB, a 40 percentreduction in noise level compared to a P4 processor running at 37 dB. Theproduct also supports a full range of expansion interfaces including USB2.0ports, IEEE1394 connectors, AGP 4X graphics slot and PCI slot onboard,offering users flexible scalability for future upgrades.
