According to Kotaku.com, Nintendo are working on a way of using DivX to compress movies onto a single DS cartridge.

This is probably a response to Sony's recent announcment that a range of films are to be released on the UMD format and is a separate technology to the Play-Yan adapter that we've previously reported on.

Kotaku speculates that the first movie to be released will be an animated film, potentially from Pixar.

Nintendo will have a hard task convincing people that the DS is a decent device for watching movies as the screen is much smaller than the PSP.
