Deepnet Technologies has teamed-up with Wellton Way to provide easy-to-use and secure integrated web-browsing solutions for the MultiMedia Center digital living room interface, a rival, albeit a small one, to Microsoft's XPMCE.

Wellton Way showcased Deepnet's new secure living room browser technology as part of its successful launch of MMC during CeBIT last month. Wellton Way has developed MMC to be the multimedia user interface that anyone can use, without any prior computer experience.

As a result of the partnership, Deepnet and Wellton Way will mutually integrate and promote their respective combined products, Deepnet Explorer and MMC, into turn-key ready solutions for the digital living room. In addition, Wellton Way will provide Deepnet with know-how and consulting in the areas of user interface and usability for digital home solutions.

Commenting on the new team-up, Anneli Ritari, marketing manager at Deepnet said: 'Wellton Way's ingenious MMC user interface made our choice of partner for multimedia development easy. Our joint offer will provide secure and user friendly Internet browsing technologies and solutions to the fast developing world-wide digital home market. Multimedia users will be able to use Deepnet Explorer, directly accessible in MMC, with one simple button click on the remote control from the living room couch. It is the starting-point of Internet browsing in an easy and secure way in the living room for all family members.

The Wellton Way MMC with integrated direct access to Deepnet Explorer is bought by PC manufacturers, distributors and multimedia retail chains as well as system integrators worldwide.

'The co-operation with Deepnet showcased in MMC at CeBIT earlier this year was very successful,' says Claes Wellton, CEO, Wellton Way. 'Now, as media and commercial interest in our combined offer grows, the joint venture is fast becoming recognised as the industry's point of reference for the entertainment technology that's set to grace all living rooms in the future. We look forward to progressing our ongoing partnership with Deepnet.'
