Meedio has announced that it is building on the success of its popular Meedio Essentials media center software by making it available through national retailers and lowering its price to only $49.99.

Meedio Essentials will be available from Amazon.com, J&R Music and Computer World, and through Navarre Corporation, with additional retailers and distributors to be announced in the coming weeks.

Meedio Essentials turns an existing PC into a powerful media center by letting users organize and access their digital media with a television and remote control. Meedio Essentials is completely customizable, with access to more than 200 add-ins from the Meedio Add-In Directory and through Meedio’s attractive television interface.

Meedio partnered with software publisher WSKA Software to produce Meedio Essentials for the U.S. retail market. Since 1991, WSKA has been an established brand in Europe and has expanded into North America from its headquarters in Stoughton, MA. European offices are located in France and Germany.

WSKA will also be publishing Meedio HouseBot, a home automation server that allows users to monitor and control their lights, appliances, A/V equipment, and other devices using customizable graphic interfaces. Meedio HouseBot is available today from Meedio’s website and supports a growing list of popular interfaces including X10, Z-Wave, IR, and RS232.
