MEDIA CENTER PC NEWSJuly 11th 2005 Play-Yan Gets MP4 Patch
Movie files have to be in a 4:3 ratio, as opposed to the 16:9 ratio used by the PSP, but according to reports on Gamespot, files have been transfered successfully between the two rival devices. The Play-Yan patch itself is a little hacky. The 278kb file must be placed in the root directory od the SD memory card that contains the video to be played and doesn't actually update the hardware itself. Delete the patch file and the MP4 won't play. Creating MP4 files can't yet be done by the software that Nintendo bundles with the Play-Yan, but it is expected to be included later in the year. |
