Shuttle made its name building and selling barebones, small form factor PCs, but they have no plans to offer a barebones version of their popular XPC Media Center range.

The explanation given is that setting up a Media Center PC is a complex job, beyond the meager skills of your average home PC builder.

There is a certain amount of truth in this. XPMCE is a notoriously fussy OS that has very specific hardware requirements and the performance needs of media center functionality involve a lot of fine tuning to get the best out of the system. However, most users who are prepared to get out a screwdriver and build a PC themselves would be happy to take on the challenge and Shuttle's decision is a disappointing one.

Shuttle has just unveiled its new addition to the XPC Media Center line, Shuttle showed its latest addition to the Media Center line, the M2000. This system includes an Intel 1.83-GHz processor, 250GB hard drive, support for Wi-Fi, and dual TV tuner cards.
