It's an elegant little machine, but the lack of digital reception, high price and that grumbling fan keep it from real greatness though.

Although the Shuttle XPC M1000 is an attractive Media Center PC, there just isn't anything about its price or features that makes it more attractive than our current champs - the Sony VAIO XL1 and HP z555/z556.

In the end, the XPC M1000 is another noble, but flawed attempt at building a living room PC. And at the price, the flaws ultimately outweigh the utility of the system.
